In the midst of an international crisis, career diplomat Kate Wyler lands a high-profile job she is ill-suited for, with tectonic effects on her marriage and political future. Producers won over both the American and British governments, allowing them to use real-life sets as filming locations for the series, including the fledgling U.S. Embassy (in Nine Elms), which opened in 2018. Britain permitted filming in the Foreign Secretary’s office, a schedule rarely granted. Honor for any film or film production, especially an American one. The only location unavailable was Winfield House, the current residence of the U.S. Ambassador. Although it is accurately described as being the largest residential property (11 acres) in London, next to Buckingham Palace, producers used a country house outside the city for filming.
